Turku Christian Institute was founded in 1925. Today it is one of the biggest folk high schools in Finland. The Institute operates in the spirit of the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church. Central values are person-orientation, friendship, and tolerance.
The Institute has three main functions. The first one is long-term general and vocational education, which attracts annually about 450 full-day students. The second one is the polytechnic unit with 200 students. The unit is part of the Diaconia University of Applied Sciences. The third function is conference centre Linnasmäki. About 20000 people attend congresses and seminars at the Institute annually. Several international events are organized regularly.
